This guest bedroom was transformed into a baby room (nursery) for a new daughter. Our studio followed the principles of the Montessori method: stimulating the child, making him independent and capable of self-determination.
A lively animal-themed wallpaper was chosen for the wall. Instead of a boy blue or girly pink, neutral and reassuring colors were used in a tidy, minimal space. The child can access everything herself; puppets and toys are placed in low baskets, child-friendly shelves with clearly visible book covers to stimulate curiosity and encourage her choices.
The bed is placed in the corner to increase a sense of protection, and it is independently and safely accessible for the child. Furnished with hypoallergenic carpet, and left clear, the room center is intended for playtime. The plant has been added to bring touches of nature into the room, in a mix of playful, tropical Brazilian and urban styles.
